WHAT’S THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN AN APRON AND A SMOCK FOR COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL?
I’m going to beauty school starting tomorrow, I have to buy my own smock. I went to sallys beauty supply and asked them exactly what I needed and they gave me an apron. They told me that its practically the same thing but my family is now telling me that I got the wrong thing. I know the difference between the two but my question is will it matter?? Should I return it? Thanks
Usually a smock is something that you wear like a jacket…sor of like what food service people wear, or maybe a housekeeper in a hotel, or similar workers. You might even get by with a scrub top or jacket like what nurses or medical folks wear.
An apron is more of a tie-on kind of thing that can cover top and bottom or just the bottom.
I would think that a smock would be more appropriate for cosmetology since you would want to cover your clothes as much as possible to protect them from chemicals, etc. that you will use in class.
Your cosmetology school may sell smocks to students, so I would definitely have my checkbook or credit card with me tomorrow so that you can get the right thing. I don’t know that you’ll need it on the first day, but it’s much better to be prepared because you’ll be doing hands-on things right away.
