BASIC STAMP 2 command set?
What exactly is a command set and how would we start to make one? Any help is appreciated. We are making a vehicle that has different readings and we are sending the data via RF and we need a command set for the different readings. Thanks !
A BASIC STAMP command set is the list of commands that are part of the BASIC interpreter that is STAMPed (or burned) into a PROM/EPROM, etc.
All that is required for your usage, is that you can send and receive data in a requested way.
In other words, you want to send a command to the vehicle to request specific information. That can be as short or as long as you want it to be.
If you only had 26 readings to be done, you could simply send a letter of the alphabet to request that information (although that’s not the easiest to read).
When the request is sent to the remote device (i.e. vehicle), it simply has to interpret the request as made. So, it could be as simple as a few commands like this:
F56 – to move forward 56 “clicks”
B14 – to move back 14 “clicks”
L3 – to turn left by 3 “clicks”
R6 – to turn right by 6 “clicks”
And so on.
All you need to do is define what operations that the remote device is capable of (or planned to be capable of), and then verify that you are sending the information properly.
If you have to be much more safe, you might want to send back a response from the remote device to the base station, such as “OK”, or “DONE”, or “FAIL”, or “NOTOK”. This way you know that the remote device read and understood the command you sent it.
